Profile

Greetings! My name is Matt Flege and I am a Research Assistant Professor in Clemson University's Institute on Family & Neighborhood Life, where I strive to expand knowledge on pressing issues for families and communities and help foster the next generation of civic leaders. Prior to returning to graduate school and beginning my academic career at Clemson, I served as a United States Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica, and worked in the nonprofit sector for seven years in a variety of leadership roles at St. Vincent de Paul, a grassroots human service organization. My research and teaching interests include civic engagement, human rights and humanitarian assistance, bullying prevention, empathy, and nonprofit management.
