ProfileCentral to my teaching philosophy is the science of learning. The focus of the learning sciences is to investigate activities that improve learning outcomes. Currently I am studying predictors of academic success among beginning nursing students and interventions that improve medication dosage calculations. The direct effect for my students is early identification of those at risk and initiating interventions that promote success. I believe in lifelong learning and have explored four career changes during the course of my professional life; first as a landscape architect, then a freelance scientific illustrator, followed by my moving into the nursing profession, and finally finding my true calling as a nursing educator. I am a strong proponent of developing multi-modal learners and supporting student learning through the creation of innovative teaching tools. | |
