ProfileMy name is Chris Williams and it is my pleasure to serve as a Lecturer for PRMT and Clemson University. After a 4 year career as a collegiate student-athlete at Roberts Wesleyan University in NY - I got straight into the collegiate athletics field starting as an admissions counselor in charge of recruiting student-athletes. During that time, I also served the department of athletics serving as the event manager and sports information director. I was quickly promoted to the title of Asst. AD - my roles were to oversee every home game/event as well as I served as the asst. women's basketball coach. After 7 years in those roles - I was promoted to the head coaching position for the WBB team at RWU. After a successful stint as the head women's basketball coach at RWU - I took the same position at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC. After 3 years and winning the schools first ever national championship in any sport - I was promoted to Director of Athletics - tasked with leading the University and the Department from the NAIA into the NCAA and a Division II conference (Conference Carolinas). After 13 years serving SWU as the Director of Athletics and nearly 30 years within the collegiate athletics world - I transitioned out of collegiate athletics and into the private sector serving an adventure course design and build company as their Executive Director for 2 years. During the year of (2022-23), I served the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) as their Director of Championships. Now, I currently serve at Clemson University as a PRTM- sports management emphasis lecturer. I trust that my years of experience merged with the experiences of this program will give you a look into the many careers that can be found within the parks, recreation, and tourism industry.
