Educational Background | ProfileEdwin J. Rivera-Guzman is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) with over 20 years of experience managing recreation programs and facilities in the public and private sectors. Edwin has a diverse professional background in parks, recreation, and summer camps serving as Facility Director, Camp Director, Program Coordinator, and Assistant Special Events Manager. Active member and leader within several professional organizations, including the National Recreation Parks Association (NRPA), American Camp Association (ACA), and the Maryland Parks and Recreation Association (MRPA), as well as within community-based and nonprofit organizations. Edwin has a master's degree in Recreation Management from Springfield College, Massachusetts (Birthplace of Basketball) and a B.A. in Physical Education from the University of Puerto Rico- Mayagüez. He is also a graduate of the NRPA’s Revenue Development and Management School and Supervisors School. Earned his Eagle Scout Rank from the Boy Scouts of America (Troop 276) in his hometown Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, in 1995. Currently, a Ph.D. Student at Clemson University in the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management program. Franchise owner for Hi-Five Sports Clubs DC Metro and Social Media Assistant for the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission. With the support of other colleagues from the field, he accomplished his dream of creating the Hispanic Professionals in Parks and Recreation group with the help of other colleagues from the field. To support other Hispanic/Latino professionals in the field to continue professional development and representation. |
