As an international student at Clemson University, you have several employment options. Immigration Services is here to guide you through the process, whether you are applying for a Social Security Number, applying for off-campus work authorization or learning about the U.S. workplace culture.

Plan for Employment
On-Campus Employment
For F-1 and J-1 Students
You are eligible for on-campus employment as an F-1 or J-1 student in good standing. Your options are:
- Work on campus up to 20 hours per week during the academic year.
- You may be eligible to work over the 20-hour limit during official breaks. Please confirm these breaks with the International Employment Office in Human Resources.
- Working beyond the allowed limited hours during a non-recognized school break can violate your status.
Please keep in mind that on-campus employment is secondary to your pursuit of a degree at Clemson University. Because of this, you must maintain full-time enrollment if you are employed on campus.
