Profile/About Me
Hello, I am Matt and I am a physics Ph.D, student here at Clemson. I am from Rhode Island, where I completed my physics M.S. in gravitational wave data analysis with Dr. Robert Coyne. I am deeply passionate about contributing meaningful scientific findings to advance the field of multi-messenger astronomy. Moreover, improving my pedagogy as an educator is important to me as well. Other than that, I enjoy playing piano, TTRPGs, and the occasional hike!
Research Interests
The relationship and nuance between gravitational waves and electromagnetic signals is an emerging and exciting frontier of multi-messenger astrophysics. Developing new techniques, testing predictions, and analyzing the connection between compact objects and the light emitted from their surrounding environments involves both "seeing" and "hearing" spectacular astrophysically relevant phenomena. Investigating these scenarios helps better understand our knowledge of the underlying physics but also serves as preparation for the soon-to-be launch of LISA, a space-based gravitational wave observatory.
