Dr. Swain is a Professor of Marketing and inaugural Powers Distinguished Fellow. He previously taught at MIT (Sloan School of Management), Dartmouth College (Tuck School of Business), Boston University (Questrom School of Business), and Northeastern University (D'Amore-McKim School of Business). He has research interests in the psychology of innovations – examining how consumers and other marketing stakeholders learn about, adopt, adapt, or reject new technologies. He also studies when and why people exhibit territorial responses over technological ideas, devices, and services. Dr. Swain has taught a variety of courses at the undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels and frequently assists organizations with branding, customer insights, digital optimization, and advanced analytical methods. Dr. Swain previously served as an officer in the United States Navy (submarines).
