Professor Espey has been teaching at Clemson University since 1999. Prior to that, she was at the University of Nevada Reno. She has published research on gasoline, water, and electricity demand as well as hedonic analyses of airport noise, the urban-rural fringe, and park proximity. She has also studied federal land exchanges, federal payments-in-lieu of taxes (PILT), and the Land and Water Conservation Fund. She uses team-based learning in the classroom and has numerous publications assessing the value of this teaching method for economics students. When she isn't in the office or classroom, she can probably be found running, swimming, hiking, skiing, or traveling.
