Profile

Dr. Ondina Sevilla-Rovirosa is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at Clemson University’s Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. She brings more than 20 years of professional experience spanning entrepreneurship, corporate management, government, consulting, and higher education across a wide range of industries and organizational settings.

Ondina earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration from Clemson University in 2026, with a focus on strategy, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Her current research examines strategic decision-making and the influence of media and political ideological alignment on corporate investment decisions, building on the research developed through her doctoral dissertation.

Her research also extends into entrepreneurship and the social narratives surrounding entrepreneurial behavior. In 2025, she presented research on ‘Rule-Bending Dismissal in Entrepreneurship: How Societal Narratives Enable Risk, Failure, and Fraud’ at the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference (BCERC). This work continues to be developed as part of her broader research agenda in entrepreneurship.

Her academic background also includes a Master’s in Entrepreneurship and a Graduate Certificate in Marketing Analytics from Oklahoma State University, an MBA from Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM), and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP).

Before and alongside her academic career, Ondina developed extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. She is a small-business owner involved in a cattle ranching operation in Mexico and has worked with the Government of the State of Puebla, multinational corporations including Nissan and Scotiabank, the family business DG-Group, and consulting through AOE-Group. These experiences provide her with a practitioner’s perspective that she brings to both her teaching and research.

Ondina grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, where she learned firsthand the challenges of launching a business and the long-term commitment required to sustain and grow it. Throughout her career as an entrepreneur, former executive, consultant, and educator, she has maintained a strong interest in the power of enterprise to contribute to economic and sustainable development, particularly in rural communities.

Her academic career has included serving as a Lecturer in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University and, currently, as a Lecturer at Clemson University. Her teaching focuses on strategic management and emphasizes connecting academic frameworks with real-world managerial challenges, helping students develop the analytical and decision-making skills needed to navigate complex and rapidly changing business environments.

Having studied in three countries and traveled extensively across four continents, Ondina brings an international and multicultural perspective to her work. Her combination of academic research, teaching, entrepreneurship, corporate experience, and international exposure enables her to connect theory with practice and bring a distinctive global perspective to the classroom and the broader academic community.
