Our Initiative: AI Ready, Not AI Reliant

AI is actively reshaping how organizations operate, how decisions are made and the skills employers expect from graduates. Across business disciplines, AI is becoming part of analytics, marketing, finance, operations and strategy. Employers increasingly expect graduates to use AI tools effectively, responsibly and with sound judgment. The Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business is committed to producing graduates who are AI-ready, not AI-reliant.

The College is advancing a practical, human-centered initiative to prepare students, faculty and staff for a rapidly evolving business landscape. Through hands-on learning, faculty research, industry collaboration and responsible-use guidance, we are building the knowledge and judgment needed to use AI thoughtfully and create value in a dynamic global economy.

Course highlight: Manufacturing in the Age of AI in collaboration with BMW

Students engage with AI not only as a technology, but as a force changing how organizations operate, compete, and create value. Our goal is to integrate industry connections into AI learning.

This course works with BMW to connect academic study with a corporate perspective on the role of artificial intelligence in modern manufacturing. The collaboration is one example of how the College brings industry into the learning experience and helps students examine AI in a real business context.

Business Intelligence and Research in the AI World

AI is both a subject of business research and a tool that can support it. At the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business, we study how AI is changing firms, markets, work, innovation, risk and decision-making. We also use AI to explore data, help test ideas and communicate findings, while remaining responsible for the methods, evidence and conclusions.

Business intelligence supports how data is turned into decisions.

Artificial intelligence expands that toolkit by helping people find patterns, evaluate possibilities, automate routine analysis and communicate insight.

Strategic Alignment

At the intersection of business and artificial intelligence, the College is turning ideas into real-world impact. Through experiential, industry-connected learning, we prepare students to use AI responsibly and with confidence. We are growing research capacity in AI to assist our faculty in translating business insight into value for South Carolina and beyond, advancing the priorities of Clemson Elevate.
