Profile

Sergeant First Class Demetrius DeAngelo Trapps was born on 26 June 1989 in Dayton, Ohio. In the winter of 2013, he graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. On 05 March 2018, Sergeant Trapps married Catalina Trapps. They now have two children, Kennedi Rynae Trapps and Demetrius DeAngelo Trapps.

Sergeant First Class Trapps joined the U.S. Army to become a Combat Engineer on 04 November 2014. After completing OSUT at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, on 05 March 2015, he went to Fort Benning, Georgia, to complete Airborne School. On 13 April 2015, SFC Trapps reported to Bravo Company, 54th BEB(A), 173rdIBCT(A), where he served as a Team Leader from 2015-2018. After serving in the 173rd IBCT (A), he was assigned to the 2nd Team, 2nd Company, 1st Battalion, 2nd Security Forces Assistance Brigade in Fort Liberty, NC, where he served as the Explosive Advisor from March 0f 2018 to March 2021. In March of 2021, SFC Trapps returned to 173rd IBCT (A), where he served as a Platoon Sergeant and an Operations Sergeant in Alpha Company, 54th BEB (A).

Throughout his time serving in the Army, SFC Trapps has completed: Basic Airborne Course, Basic Leader Course, Combatives Level 1, Combat Advisor Training Course, Foreign Weapons Training Course, Advanced Situational Awareness Course, Engineer Explosive Ordnance Clearing Agent Course, Advanced Leader Course, Sapper Leaders Course, Master Resilience Course, Master Fitness Trainer Course, Senior Leader Course, Jump Master Course, and Battle Staff. He has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) for nine months, and to Turkey in Support of Operation Atlantic Sentry (OAS) for four months.

His awards and decorations include: Army Campaign Medal w/ C-device and 4 oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal w/ 5 oak leaf cluster, Army Good Conduct Medal with 3 knots, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Services Ribbon numeral 3, NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit, Meritorious Unit Commendation, 2 Certificate of Achievement, Sapper Tab, Drivers Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge and has earned US Army Engineers Bronze De Fleury Medal.
