Profile

Major James “Jimmy” Harris is a native of Myersville, Maryland. MAJ Harris received his commission from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He earned his Master of Science in Homeland Security and Disaster Management from Liberty University in November 2024.

Major Harris has held various leadership assignments, beginning his career as an Operations Officer and Platoon Leader with the 734th Ordnance Company (EOD), Fort Bliss, TX. He then Commanded the 1st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detachment, Task Force Sinai, Multinational Force and Observers, Sinai, Egypt. After returning from Egypt, Major Harris was assigned as a current operations officer with the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Command at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. In 2017 Major Harris transferred to the Army Reserve (TPU) and served as a Logistical Planner for 1189th Transportation Surface Brigade in Charleston, SC. Major Harris then served as the Assistant Executive Officer for the CFO and DRIM at the Office of the Chief of Army Reserve. MAJ Harris was then selected for the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program, where he served as the HHD Commander and Assistant S3 for 2nd Brigade, Great Lakes Training Division. 2nd Brigade was realigned under the 86th Training Division, where he served as an Exercise Planning Officer. MAJ Harris then became the Executive Officer for 3rd Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) Support Battalion in Birmingham, AL.

Major Harris’ awards and decorations include the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Senior Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf cluster, the Army Accommodation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (second award), the Army Reserve Components Overseas Training Ribbon, the NATO non-article five Medal, and the Multinational Force and Observer Medal (second award).

Major Harris’ military schools include the Ordnance Basic Officer Leader Course, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Phase One, Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Advanced Improvise Explosive Device School, Combined Logistics Captain Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College.

Major Harris is married to his wife, Stephanie, from Summerville, SC. They have on daughter, Corbin, and three dogs, Ovi Joe, Finley Duke, and Dublin Patrick.
