Elizabeth “Liz” Laxton, Academic Advisor and Registration Coordinator for the Management Department within the College of Business, has joined our team from the Financial Aid office and previously from ClemsonLIFE. Liz’s focus is on student enrichment in the areas of academic success, global engagement, inclusive campuses, and campus involvement. Liz has been involved in programmatic development since she joined Clemson University in 2010, and currently she works with the students and the faculty to develop best practices for our consistently evolving campus environment. Moving forward Liz is working to improve communications between the numerous focus groups within our department to ensure the best customer service for our students, while also preparing them for a highly competitive business environment. She is able to assist students with academic success practices; study skills, time management, conflict resolution and appropriate course selection, as well as working with students to navigate registration issues that arise. She is also able to work individually with students to ensure proper placement into courses to advance degree progression. Liz also facilitates students, faculty, and staff in developing skills in global engagement, inclusive campuses, and campus involvement by her work with special campus initiatives to foster growth and development in these areas. Some of her work is attributed to the EAB training team, Study Abroad Champions and in upcoming semesters she will be working with the steering committee to develop programing for diversity and inclusive practices to promote studying abroad in various underrepresented student populations on campus, SuccessMatters an initiative to support students who are on or in jeopardy of suspension.
