Accreditation and Public Information
Accreditation is a voluntary process of peer review designed to evaluate programs against not only the accreditation standards but also the program’s own stated objectives. The Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) is the accrediting organization for professional landscape architecture degree programs. As such, LAAB develops standards to evaluate professional landscape architecture degree programs objectively and judges whether a school’s professional landscape architecture degree program is in compliance with its accreditation standards.

Landscape Architecture Accreditation
The LAAB accreditation process evaluates each program on the basis of its stated objectives and compliance to externally mandated minimum standards. The program conducts a self-study to evaluate how well it is meeting its educational goals. LAAB then provides an independent assessment, which determines if a program meets accreditation requirements. Programs leading to first professional degrees at the bachelor’s or master’s levels in the United States are eligible to apply for accreditation from LAAB.
Clemson University, College of Architecture, Art & Construction, School of Architecture offers the following LAAB-accredited degree programs:
- Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, 124 credit hours
- Master of Landscape Architecture, First Professional MLA, 3-year, 81 credit hours (geared towards candidates without an undergraduate degree in design)
- Master of Landscape Architecture, Second Professional MLA, 2-year, 42 credit hours (geared towards students with an accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture)
