What is BikeShare

Bike sharing makes it economical and convenient to use bikes for trips that are too far to walk, but too short to drive. As a member, you can use a Clemson Bike to run an errand, grab lunch, travel from the bus stop to your office, or just get some fresh air. That's what makes bike sharing so great: a bike that's there when you need it and gone when you don't.

With your Clemson Bike, you don’t have to look for a parking space or bring your own bike with you everywhere you go. Plus, riding a bike is good for your health and for the environment. It’s the newest and best way to get around campus.

The bikes are specially designed for both you and the city: they fit people of all sizes, thanks to an easy-to-use adjustable seat post. A great front basket provides a space to store your belongings while riding and automatic lights help keep you safe at all times of day. The bikes are equipped with three speeds that are perfect for your short commute.

Clemson BikeShare is designed to encourage you to use a bike for all your short trips. Once you've paid your annual membership fee, you can take an unlimited number of rides 2 hours or less for just $0.25!

Getting Started

Become an Annual Member Today!

Clemson University students, faculty, and staff can receive an annual memberships for just $20. As a member, you'll be able take any of our BCycle bikes on unlimited number of rides! Additional usage fees apply to trips over 2 hours. A $0.25 unlock fee applies to every trip. Simply return your bike to any station and check it back out to restart your 2-hour period. Use the Bcycle App, unlock your bike at the bike dock and you are ready to ride!

  • What about the actual bike?

    Imagine a bike that is always ready to ride, where and when you want to ride it. The tires are always inflated and the chain is never rusty. A bike with a basket to carry your belongings. A bike with front and rear lights and a bell that fits people tall and short. A bike that’s there whenever you need it, 24/7, and gone when you don’t. And it’s powered by the ultimate alternative fuel: you.

  • How does Clemson BikeShare work?

    Clemson BikeShare relies on the integration of hardware and software to keep track of members, bikes and all the interactions between users and bikes. Radio frequency (RFID) technology makes it possible for bike sharing to be smart and simple for users.

    All rides are tracked by the system and associated with members. Data such as distance, duration, calories burned, and carbon offset are captured and uploaded to personal profiles on this website.

  • How much does Clemson BikeShare cost?

    The cost to use a bike is divided into two components: a membership fee and a usage fee. 

    MEMBERSHIP FEE  

    The $20 annual membership fee provides Clemson students, faculty, and staff access to the bike sharing system with an unlimited number of 2-hour bike rides with a $0.25 unlock fee.  Usage fees apply for bike checkouts longer than 2 hours.

    USAGE FEES

    Usage fees are charged based on the length of each ride, after the initial 2 hours. Trips that exceed 2 hours at a time will incur additional usage fees of $1 for the next hour and $0.50 per 30 minute increments after that.  To avoid usage fees, return the bike to any station within 2 hours.  

  • How much do the bikes weigh?

    Designed for durability and long life, the each bike weighs approximately 45 lbs.
