Healthy Me, Healthy SC COVID-19 Testing Sites

CU Covid 19 testing sites drive through testing

COVID-19

Step 1: Follow strategies for decreasing the spread of COVID-19

Extension wants to get back to in-person events so we can continue to deliver quality health and nutrition programs to South Carolinians. But we have to do it in a safe way. Per Extension’s adopted policies in the pandemic, community incidence rates need to go down so we can gather in groups to share education and knowledge. PLEASE HELP US REDUCE THE SPREAD!

    • Wear a mask when you are in public
    • Stay 6 feet away from others
    • Avoid hand-shakes and physical contact
    • Wash your hands A LOT!

Step 2: If experiencing symptoms, determine if you have COVID-19

  • To learn if you have a current infection, viral tests are used.  You can assess your symptoms that may be related to COVID-19 using a self-assessment screening tool found on the CDC website.
  • Extension’s Rural Health and Nutrition team is doing its part to bring COVID-19 viral testing to our South Carolina citizens.  We have partnered with healthcare providers MUSC and the Sullivan Center through our Healthy Me, Healthy SC Collaborative.  Extension is helping these healthcare providers find locations in our rural and underserved communities for clinics. Below is a list of Healthy Me, Healthy SC clinics. For additional clinics in your area, visit SCDEC.
  • Find a clinic in your area.

Step 3: Know what your test means

  • If you test positive for COVID-19 by a viral test, know what protective steps to take if you are sick or caring for someone.
  • If you test negative for COVID-19 by a viral test, you probably were not infected at the time your sample was collected. However, that does not mean you will not get sick. The test result only means that you did not have COVID-19 at the time of testing. You might test negative if the sample was collected early in your infection and test positive later during your illness. You could also be exposed to COVID-19 after the test and get infected then.

Step 4: Prevent the spread!

    • Wear a mask when you are in public
    • Stay 6 feet away from others
    • Avoid hand-shakes and physical contact
    • Wash your hands A LOT!
