Dates of Employment: Counselors will be expected to work the following weeks:
May 18: All Counselors Must Be Checked In By 8:00 am
May 18 – 22: C.O.A.S.T. (Counselor Orientation and Skills Training)
May 25 – 29: Staff Week
June 1 - 5: Week 1 FFA Camp
June 15 - 19: Week 2 FFA Camp
June 22 – 26: Week 3 FFA Camp
July 27 – 31: FFA Leadership Week
Additional weeks may be available for those who are interested
Salary and Experience:
Work Week: Each work week begins on the first day of the scheduled FFA Camp week at 7:00 am and ends the last day of the scheduled FFA Camp week at 5:00 pm. Each work day will last until the evening activities are over.
(This position is a salaried position; therefore, some weekend work time may come into effect.)
Salary - $300 per week
Housing – All counselors will be provided housing. Counselors are welcome to stay at the camp during weekends or return home (if there are no camps). If they return home, they must return to the camp, no later than Sunday afternoon.
Meals – all meals will be provided to counselors during their stay.
Experience -Some experience is required to be a Summer Staff Team member, experience working with youth is a plus. Those with experience and / or certification in areas association with camp activities (lifeguard, kayaking, paintball, archery, high ROPES, Low ROPES) will be given priority. However, each area of the camping program has a training program, which will be conducted for the ones operating those areas.
The SC FFA Center is located in North Myrtle Beach overlooking the marsh of Little River Neck.
C.O.A.S.T. (Counselor Orientation and Skills Training) will be conducted during the week of May 18- May 22. This is a mandatory training for all staff. It will cover all aspects of becoming a counselor, from each recreation area to first responder courses.
During staff week, assignments will be made. In addition, staff will work to ensure that the facilities are ready for the coming weeks of camp. This is the same week as the FFA State Convention. Some counselors may be excused from staff week to assist with conducting the FFA Convention.
