SC FFA Legislators Appreciation Day

South Carolina FFA Legislator Appreciation Day
Ceremony and Events Information

In lieu of an in-person Legislator Appreciation Day ceremony and events this year, the SC FFA will be releasing a video of the ceremony normally held on the State House Steps on February 24, 2021. The ceremony will consist of a welcome by the SC State FFA President, Gracie Helms followed by comments from Representative David R. Hiott, Chairman of the House Agriculture, Natural Resources & Environmental Affairs Committee, Senator Wes Climer, Chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, Hugh Weathers, Superintendent of Education, Molly Spearman and Governor Henry McMaster.

We encourage you to show the ceremony to all your agriculture students, and to share the video link with your administration, advisory council and community members. The video will be released at 8:00am on February, 24th and will be linked HERE.

Contacting Your Legislative Delegation

During FFA Week, we encourage all programs to contact your district legislators to thank them for their support of agriculture education, and the FFA. Connect your FFA officers and members with legislators

Tips for Contacting Legislators:

  • Contact your legislators in their Columbia office to set up a virtual meeting. Use the following link to contact your Legislator:
  • We would ask that you only establish meetings with your Legislators and not with state-wide officials (Governor, Commissioner, Superintendent of Education, etc.). We do not want to overwhelm these officials with visit requests. This could have a negative impact.
  • To receive credit for 12-month funding, please invite your regional coordinator and/or Jillian Lash to attend the meeting.
  • A virtual meeting can be a great photo opportunity for both your chapter and the legislator. Have the meeting on a large screen with the legislator in the middle of the screen and your FFA members around it.
