The department is well equipped with conventional instrumentation expected for modern genetic and biochemical analyses. Students and faculty enjoy access to state-of-the-art facilities and labs, including the Palmetto Cluster supercomputer, the Clemson University Genomics and Bioinformatics Facility, the Clemson University Light Imaging Facility, the Multiuser Analytical Lab and Metabolomics Core, a $7 million greenhouse complex suitable for use with transgenic plants, and a small-animal care facility with surgical capabilities. Our faculty are also members of the Eukaryotic Pathogens Innovation Center and Clemson Center for Human Genetics, both of which have outstanding infrastructure for research in the areas of human pathogens and human genetics.
