Profile

Marian Turcan has been a Research Assistant Professor with the Department of Youth, Family and Community Studies (YFCS) since 2011. Marian serves as the Instructional designer and Technology Coordinator for the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and the YFCS at Clemson University.

In the YFCS PhD program, Dr. Turcan oversees classroom technology and content delivery. He also provides advice and technical assistance to YFCS faculty teaching online courses at Clemson University. Marian teaches FCS836-Area Studies-Russia and Eastern Europe course. He also develops interactive contents for training modules, designs educational materials, and helps support the functionality of the Olweus website.

His main interests and research include classroom technology integration, motivation behind instructional technology use and effective ways of teaching online classes.

Prior to joining YFCS, Dr. Turcan worked in Clemson University’s administration and at The US Embassy in Moldova. Before coming to the US, Dr. Turcan was involved with the Alumni Resource Center (ARC) administered by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova, where he provided trainings, technical support and guidance to the US Government exchange programs alumni. He also managed the activity of the Career Center within ARC. During his free time, Marian spends time enjoying photography, graphic design, foraging wild mushrooms, and DIY home projects.
