Title and Language
When multiple PDFs are open in Acrobat, readers can switch between documents by selecting their corresponding tab. The name of each tab is determined by a document’s title. (It’s a specific setting, separate from a document’s file name or heading.) A document’s language is used by screen readers to determine the correct pronunciation of content.
Review and update the document’s title and language:
- Select Menu (Windows) or File (Mac) > Properties to open the Document Properties dialog.
- In the Description tab, update the Title field.
- In the Advanced tab, update the Language field.
- Select OK.
Security Settings
Some security settings prevent PDF content from being copied or edited. These settings can interfere with screen readers. Ensure screen readers can access PDF content:
- Select Menu (Windows) or File (Mac) > Document properties.
- In the Security Method tab, update the Security Method value to No Security.
- Select OK.
