How To

Username and Password Information

Usernames

New students, upon acceptance, are assigned a username. Employees are assigned a username when their work appointment begins.

Your username is made up of letters or a combination of letters and numbers associated your name. This is a permanent, unique identifier that is used to access Clemson University computers, networks, webpages, and resources.

Where Can I Find My Username?

Students will receive their CUID/XID in their acceptance information, and will receive a separate email with an activation code. Using this information, students must complete the onboarding process to receive their username and set their initial password.

Each new employee should be notified of their username by their supervisor or they can find it by looking themselves up in the Clemson University directory. Employee usernames are automatically generated and are posted in the CUBS system.

Passwords

NEVER give out your password to ANYONE. The Support Center will NEVER ask you for your password. If you need assistance with your Username, do NOT email your password.

Where Can I Find My Password For My Username?

If you are a new student, you will establish your initial password during the onboarding process. Passwords for new employee accounts are set by default to the last five digits of the employee’s social security number and can be reset by each user.

How Do I Change My Password?

You can change your password at any time by using the  Password Change Utility. When choosing a new password, one recommendation is to think of a sentence that you can remember. Use a memorable sentence, such as “MysisterJennylovesDogs” as the basis of your strong password. Your new password will also need to follow the Clemson standard requirements. For more information, visit the  Strong Password Guidelines page and our  Username and Password Policy page.

What If I Forgot My Password?

If you cannot remember your password, please bring a picture ID with you to the CCIT Support Center. If you are more than twenty minutes away from campus, please call us at 864-656-3494.

The Support Center will only reset passwords for the account owner. Parents, relatives, associates, etc. can not request a password reset.
