 Profile

As a pediatric oncology researcher, with a long history in maternal child nursing, I have a vested interest in helping to improve the lives of children with cancer. Research areas include physical activity, patient reported outcomes and patient/family education. Current research involves the use of metabolomics to explore relationships between oxidative stress, physical activity and patient symptoms in children receiving treatment for cancer. I strongly advocate for capturing the voice of children during cancer therapy and as such, I have a long history of working on studies related to instrument development and validation for pediatric Patient Reported Outcome (PRO) measures (specifically Pediatric PROMIS and Pediatric PRO-Common Terminology Criteria of Adverse Events). I am also very involved in nursing research and evidence based practice through the Children's Oncology Group and currently service as Chair for the Nursing Research committee within this organization.
