Profile

Kimberly Kamp Hill, DNP, RN, CHSE, is the Associate Director of Simulation at Clemson University School of Nursing and Lecturer for Nursing Professionalism. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and an active member of the South Carolina Nursing Education Simulation Alliance (SCNESA), where she serves on the education planning committee, Simulation Leadership Council, and vice-president. She is a member of the American Nurses Association and SC Nurses Association, serving on virtual simulation roundtables and poster presenter 2025. Kim was a Certified Cardiovascular Care Coordinator by the American College of Cardiology until December 2020 and has 27 years of Critical Care Experience. Before coming "back home to Clemson" in 2018, she served as the Chest Pain Center Coordinator for an upstate health system. This role involved coordinating several multidisciplinary teams, tracking outcome data, and providing education to the Cardiac Arrest, Hypothermia, ACS/Chest Pain, and STEMI populations. Kimberly was vital in placing Automatic External Defibrillators (AED’s) in rural areas of Anderson and Pickens counties to increase survival rates for cardiac arrest victims. In addition, Kim led a project to place 5 emergency call towers, with temperature-controlled AED’s around the AnMed Health Campus walking track, which serves the community and a large volume of cardiac rehab patients. Kimberly is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with the American Heart Association where she served as an instructor until December 2020, a member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), a member of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL), a member of the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and completed the National League for Nursing (NLN) Coaching for Excellence course focusing on reflective learning & feedback for the novice nurse. Kim sits on the board for Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Gamma Mu chapter and recently completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare Systems Leadership from Clemson University.

Research Interests

My research focuses on advancing nursing education through innovative simulation-based learning that strengthens the preparation, resilience, and well-being of the nursing workforce. My scholarship examines how simulation can be leveraged to improve clinical judgment, foster resilience, reduce burnout, and enhance learner outcomes across diverse educational and practice settings.

My research also explores the effectiveness of diverse simulation modalities, including high-fidelity simulation, virtual simulation, standardized patients, and emerging technologies, to determine how different approaches influence learner engagement, competency development, and transition to practice. By evaluating innovative simulation strategies, I seek to identify best practices to enhance educational quality and expand access to high-impact learning experiences.

An important emphasis of my scholarship is addressing the unique healthcare workforce needs of rural communities. I investigate how simulation-based education can improve the preparation, recruitment, and retention of nurses serving rural populations by increasing access to quality training, strengthening clinical confidence, and supporting workforce resilience. Through collaborative partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, and community stakeholders, my research aims to develop scalable, evidence-based educational interventions to improve nursing education and ultimately improve patient outcomes in underserved communities.

My goal is to generate evidence that informs nursing education, strengthens the healthcare workforce, and advances the use of simulation as a transformative strategy for preparing resilient, practice-ready nurses equipped to meet the evolving needs of patients and communities.
