What is School Enrichment?

4-H School Enrichment is a sequence of learning experiences for groups of youth, in cooperation with school officials during school hours to support the school curriculum.

School & Community Gardening

School Gardening for SC Educators is a horticulture-based training program designed to help South Carolina educators grow successful school gardens to address childhood obesity and improve academic outcomes.  4-H staff and SC Master Gardeners encourage partnerships with schools.

  • AG & ANIMALS

    EMBRYOLOGY
    Recommended for 2nd grade
    Learn about life cycles, genetics, basic needs, and more. This program will have three visits from 4-H agent. Please note, program is only available February - May.

    ANIMAL SCIENCE
    Recommended for 7th grade
    STEM lessons that will give students knowledge about genetics, animal health, animal behavior, farm management, and livestock production.

    SOUTH CAROLINA AGRICULTURE HISTORY
    Recommended for 8th grade
    Understand the importance of agriculture in South Carolina. Program defines the term commodity and discusses the top agricultural commodities in the state.

    GLOBAL FOOD WEB
    Recommended for high school
    Youth will apply critical thinking and STEM skills to address real-world agriculture challenges.

    AGRICULTURAL INNOVATORS
    Recommended for 5th grade
    Youth will analyze challenges faced by scientists, farmers, and others who are seeking to improve and support our nation's ag industry. Lessons and activities adapted from Auburn 4-H to design innovative solutions.

  • NATURAL RESOURCES

    JUNIOR NATURALISTS
    Recommended for 6th grade
    Develop the next generation of environmental stewards with this program. Explore our natural world through this series of lessons on conservation. Lessons on wildlife, water quality, botany, ornithology, and more.

    GARDEN STEM
    Recommended for grades K-8
    Bridge classroom learning to the garden. Lessons cover topics including: planning a garden, maintaining a garden, soils, crop rotation, basic plant science and more.

    PROJECT WET
    Recommended for grades K-8
    This program offered by the Project WET Foundation promotes awareness of water and empowers youth to take action to solve complex water issues.

    POLLINATORS
    Recommended for grades K-8
    Lessons to increase environmental science literacy. Understand the role of pollinators and the value that they have. Use Ozobots to create pollinator, program course, and collect hypothetical data.

    CITIZEN SCIENCE
    Recommended for grades K-12
    Students will engage in a real-world scientific collaboration. They will ask questions, collect data, and interpret results to make a difference on an environmental issue of concern.

    NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE DAY
    Recommended for grades K-8
    This year's theme is "Game Changers." Designed by Google and West Virginia Extension service, Game Changers teaches kids ages 8-14 how to use computer science (CS) to create games, solve problems and engage with current topics.

    FORCES & MOTION
    Recommended for grades 6-8
    Students evaluate the significance of Newton's Laws of Motion. Experiment with activities related to inertia, forces, and Newton's three laws.

    ENGINEERING AN EMPIRE
    Recommended for grades 6-8
    Travel around the world and explore the great Empires. Use the engineering design process to develop replicas of aqueducts, water pumps, blueprints, and more.

    SUSTAINABLE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT
    Recommended for grades 4-8
    Youth will design innovative solutions and engage in social entrepreneurship. Lessons on renewable energy, water, transportation, food, and air quality.

    ELECTRICITY
    Recommended for grades 3 - 5
    Students learn about the flow of electrical power or charge as well as other energy sources. Discover how electricity is generated, how it was discovered, and how to stay safe if lightning strikes.

    YOUTH VOICE YOUTH CHOICE
    Recommended for grades K-8
    A partnership with the Walmart Foundation, youth will participate in six different lessons focusing on making healthy choices. Each lesson includes youth getting to make a healthy snack.

    Unlock leadership potential! Students will participate in activities that incorporate public speaking, citizenship, and personal development.

    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
    Recommended for grades 9 - 12
    Youth will learn how to manage their personal finances and to become confident and skilled consumers.

    READING MAKES CENTS
    Recommended ford 3rd grade
    Literature, saving, spending, sharing, earning, and other financial concepts. Lessons include a reading curriculum fit for younger youth.

    Recommended for 1st grade
