Next Course Offering: March 14 - May 15, 2022
Registration: A link to the registration website can be found on the "What should I know before registering? (FAQs)" page located in the right column.
The Carolina Yards Online Course is designed to provide information and techniques to help you create and maintain a more environmentally friendly landscape. Weekly modules will guide you through the twelve Carolina Yards principles and interactive discussions provide the opportunity to connect with your peers across the state.
The course is set up in Modules. You are required to go through the modules in chronological order. Each of the 12 content modules contains five parts:
Action Guide: The module for each principle begins with an Action Guide. The guide is meant to help you reflect on how you are currently managing your yard and how you might change your actions to be more environmentally friendly and earn the designation of Certified Carolina Yard.
Presentation(s): New content is provided through narrated PowerPoint presentations.
Resources: We've put together some additional resources in case you'd like to learn more.
Discussion: Participants are expected to engage in discussion with the class. Course facilitators will be actively involved in the discussion and help facilitate the conversations.
Measure Up: This is a tool for you to gauge how much you are learning. To earn a digital badge, you must earn at least 80% on each module's Measure Up.
The Carolina Yards Course is ungraded. Students must complete all of the course modules to receive a digital Certificate of Completion. A digital badge will be awarded to those that complete all of the course modules and earn at least 80% on each Measure Up. While it is not required, we hope that every student obtain yard certification. Those submitting a Carolina Yards Scorecard in the last module will receive a Certified Yard certificate.
