Become a 4-H Volunteer
Volunteers are essential to the success of the 4-H program. All registered adult 4-H volunteers working directly with 4-H youth in South Carolina complete a screening process and receive training at no cost to them. Teens may also serve in volunteer roles through the 4-H Teen Leadership project.
4-H Adult Volunteers are eligible to participate in 4-H if they meet the following criteria:
- Must be 18 years or older. A volunteer cannot simultaneously be a 4-H member. Chaperones must be 21 years of age or older (county age requirement may differ).
- Must complete a 4-H Volunteer Application and background check performed by Clemson University.
- Welcome all youth, their families and other volunteers to participate in the program, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, veteran’s status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, or disability and never discriminate on the basis of any of those attributes.
What are the steps to becoming a 4-H volunteer?
