Cotton Production

Cotton production information is provided to help growers with profitable and environmental crop production. Clemson University faculty and staff work together to provide environmental-specific information to the growers of South Carolina and surrounding areas. From the research done on campus and in fields across the state at the Research and Education Centers, to the Extension Agents on farm calls, Clemson University employees work hard to be on the cutting edge of agronomic research to provide the most accurate data and support to South Carolinians.

The Pest Management Handbook is a set of recommendations developed by Clemson University Extension pest management specialists and university researchers for South Carolina growers. Good managers readily adopt the latest production technology, while recognizing the impact of limiting factors such as poorly distributed and inadequate rainfall, low soil fertility, or disease problems. In these situations, growers must adjust production practices to maximize profit and fit cotton into the total farm program to use land, labor, and equipment most efficiently. Examine all alternatives to determine the most profitable cotton practices for the farm. The following recommendations are suggested as a guide for 2019.
