Profile

Ted Zee is the Nursery Operations Coordinator for the Clemson University Department of Plant Industry, where he supervises the nursery inspection team and serves as a district specialist. Ted graduated from Clemson University, receiving his B.S. in Horticulture in 1992 and Master of Public Administration in 2020. He enjoys working with the green and agriculture industries in South Carolina to protect against the introduction of new plant pests and limit the spread of existing plant pests. Ted is designated as an Authorized Certification Official (ACO) by Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). He serves on the State Emergency Response Team (SERT) as an ESF-17 Animals and Agriculture member.
After graduation, Ted worked in the green industry in the midlands of South Carolina for over twenty years and was a self-employed landscape contractor in the years leading up to rejoining the Clemson Family. He served on the board of directors for the SCNLA (now the South Carolina Green Industry Association).
