Profile

Vicky Bertagnolli has worked in the field of entomology and integrated pest management for more than 25 years.

Her background includes seven years of fire ant research and hands-on experience gained through the Alabama School IPM Program, the Alabama Pesticide Safety Education Program, and a private pest control company. This experience provided a solid foundation in fire ant management, insect identification, and urban pest management using integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.

With more than 18 years as a Clemson Extension Consumer/Urban Horticulture Agent, Vicky serves clients in Aiken County and beyond through Clemson’s Home and Garden Information Center (HGIC). She is a regular guest on SCETV’s Making It Grow, presents educational programs across South Carolina, and supports the Clemson Extension Horticulture Team’s educational programs, outreach initiatives, and marketing efforts.

Vicky's work focuses on Clemson Extension Horticulture Team program support, insect identification, consumer horticulture, urban pest management, integrated pest management, and diagnosing plant, pest, and landscape problems. As a self-described "bug geek", she combines her love of insects with practical, research-based education for homeowners and professionals.
