Discovery That Moves the World Forward

At the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, technical mastery is only the beginning. Preparing engineers and scientists for the 21st-century demands a broader vision: an understanding of the social and economic impact of innovation, the ability to communicate across disciplines and industries, and the confidence to lead. CECAS graduates are equipped not only to enter the workforce but to shape it.

As the largest producer of engineers in South Carolina, graduating more than all other institutions in the state combined, the college serves as a driving force for regional and national progress. CECAS research accounts for two-fifths of the University’s total expenditures, with dramatic momentum over the past decade, including a 19% increase in faculty and a 175% rise in research expenditures.

Fueled by bold ideas and relentless curiosity, CECAS is advancing discovery, accelerating innovation and preparing leaders ready to move technology, economies and communities forward.
