Study Abroad in the United Kingdom
Leadership on Location offers immersive global learning experiences designed for students in Clemson University’s College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. Through academic coursework, industry engagement and cultural exploration, students develop the confidence and perspective needed to lead across disciplines, organizations and cultures.
Each program combines leadership development with real-world learning in an international setting. Students connect with industry professionals, explore innovative organizations and apply what they are learning while experiencing a new culture alongside fellow Clemson students.
Leadership on Location: London - See where engineering can take you and explore leadership, innovation and global industry in one of the world’s most dynamic cities. The London program combines coursework throughout the Spring semester with an immersive international experience during Spring Break.

London offers a unique intersection of history and innovation — from globally recognized engineering achievements to emerging technologies and sustainable approaches to urban development. Students earn three credit hours through Engineering Leadership Foundations (ECAS 2910), which applies toward the Engineering Leadership Minor.
During the program, students will:
- Engage with leading firms, industry experts and thought leaders.
- Explore engineering, entrepreneurship and innovation in a global context.
- Develop greater confidence in professional and cross-cultural environments.
- Visit cultural and historic landmarks throughout London.
- Build meaningful connections with fellow Clemson students and industry professionals.

Leadership on Location: Scotland - Experience leadership through the lens of engineering, culture and community during an immersive Maymester program based in Stirling, Scotland. With access to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the surrounding countryside, students will examine how leadership and innovation take shape across organizations and environments.

The Scotland program blends academic learning with industry visits, cultural experiences and opportunities to engage with professionals and educators throughout the region. Potential program experiences may include engineering-focused site visits, university engagement, cultural activities and travel to destinations throughout central Scotland.
During the program, students will:
- Apply leadership concepts in an international and interdisciplinary setting.
- Explore engineering achievements, transportation systems and design innovation.
- Connect with industry professionals, faculty and local experts.
- Strengthen their ability to work across cultures and perspectives.
- Experience Scotland’s history, communities and natural landscape.

Who can participate?
Leadership on Location programs are designed for all Clemson students interested in developing their leadership skills through global learning. The program is designed for students participating in the Engineering Leadership Minor.

Do these programs offer academic credit?
Yes. Leadership on Location programs include Clemson academic coursework. Course numbers, credit hours and requirements vary by program. Currently, both programs fulfill the introductory Engineering Leadership course: ECAS 2910 (3 credits).

Do I need previous international travel experience?
No. Students do not need prior international travel experience to participate. Program leaders and Clemson Abroad provide guidance to help students prepare for travel.

What is included in the program cost?
Inclusions vary by program but may include accommodations, in-country transportation, group activities, industry visits, select meals and program-related excursions. Airfare, tuition and some personal expenses are separate. Destination-specific cost information is provided before students commit to a program.
