Profile

Bradley Boone is a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University, where he also completed his undergraduate degree. His work in the Kresovich Lab centers on genetic diversity, gene discovery, and pre-breeding across a variety of cropping systems. The research focuses on understanding how DNA variation relates to useful traits and finding ways to conserve and apply that diversity through modern breeding strategies. By developing a foundation in plant breeding, bioinformatics, and quantitative genetics, his role supports efforts to connect genetic tools with real-world agricultural improvement. The goal is to help advance sustainable crop development through integrated, applied research.
Bradley is especially interested in working at the intersection of research and international agricultural development. He hopes to use his training to support farmers not only in the southeastern U.S. but also across Central and South America. By building bridges between regional needs and global research tools, he aims to help create more resilient and accessible cropping systems. He’s particularly drawn to work that connects scientific innovation with the realities of farming communities. His graduate work is laying the foundation for a career focused on collaboration, plant breeding, and practical impact—both at home and abroad.
