Profile
George was born and raised in Marion, South Carolina, where he attended Marion public schools, graduating in 2011 from Marion High School. He is a 2015 graduate of the US Naval Academy, with a B.S. in Political Science, with minors in General Engineering and Russian. After graduation, George served as a Surface Warfare Officer out of Mayport, Florida, leading 100 Sailors during operations in maritime interdictions, naval strike warfare, and anti-submarine warfare. He is a proud 4th generation Tiger, dating back to PA George in 1898. When not working in the research fields, George is an active member of the Student Veterans Association, Graduate Student Government, and manages his farm in Latta, SC.
Research Interests
George is primarily interested in domestic policy analysis, including issues such as regional development, education, and sustainability. In Agricultural Sciences, he is researching the effectiveness of training and readiness of extension agents across South Carolina. He also serves as a graduate assistant for Clemson Athletics, working on analytics for various staffs. After completing his degree in Applied Economics and Statistics, George intends to pursue a doctorate in Policy Studies at Clemson.
Extension and Outreach
George is actively assessing the newly-minted and ongoing training for extension agents on Harmful Algal Blooms, led by Dr. Debabrata Sahoo.
