Profile

Leona graduated Clemson University with Bachelor of Science in Animal Science ('12) and started her Extension career in 2013 as the 4-H Agent in Lexington and Richland County, SC. After serving there for 2 years, she began a career with Virginia Cooperative Extension as their 4-H Equine Program Director. While there, she earned her Master of Science in Agriculture, Leadership and Community Education where she focused on agent retention. During her time in Virginia, she led several educational teams to Eastern National 4-H Horse championships and oversaw one of the largest youth-only horse shows on the east coast. She coached the Virginia Tech Western team and the Virginia Tech Horse Judging team and taught several equine science classes. She also received her AQHA Level 1 Judging Card. In 2020, she and her husband relocated to South Carolina and she has spent the last few years as a STEM Teacher in Lexington 1. She has served as a volunteer and leader with the South Carolina 4-H Program and is excited to return to her "home" program! Leona and her husband Aaron have two children, Mason (4) and Emery (10 months) and currently reside in Lexington County.
