Profile

Dr. Leila Fattel is a bioinformatician in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University. She works at the Advanced Plant Technology Program led by Dr. Stephen Kresovich. Her research focuses on integrating multi-disciplinary approaches to generate functional genomic resources for multiple crop species, perform comparative genomics, and identify novel candidate genes for traits of interest to help plant breeders improve crop resilience and quality.
Previously, Dr. Leila Fattel obtained her Ph.D. in Genetics and Genomics at Iowa State University under the supervision of Dr. Carolyn Lawrence-Dill. Her research at the time involved improving Gene Ontology resources for functional genomics applications in plants.
