Profile

Dr. Adriana Restrepo-Osorio is a Research Associate at Clemson University's Wood Utilization + Design Institute. Her work advances the bioeconomy by converting bio-based resources into high-value materials for regenerative medicine, packaging, and wood-products adhesives. Prior to joining Clemson, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Auburn University's College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment, contributing to the Sustainable Bio-Based Materials Laboratory. She also serves as a Full Professor at the School of Engineering at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Medellin, Colombia), focusing on silk-based biomaterials and eco-circular strategies for sericulture by-products.
Dr. Restrepo-Osorio earned her B.Sc. in Textile Engineering (2004) and Ph.D. in Engineering (2011) from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana. Her scholarly contributions span silk-fibroin scaffolds, cellulose-based composites, and protein adhesives. She maintains an active, collaborative research agenda across Clemson and UPB, emphasizing reproducibility, quality systems, and partnerships that translate biobased materials research into real-world impact.
