Profile
A native of Pennsylvania, Rachel grew up on a farm which mostly produced crops. Her family had also raised Emus for a few years. Rachel later owned and operated a Rabbitry for 10 years, breeding Lion Lops for 4-H and student classrooms.
Upon her acceptance to Messiah University, Rachel was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for Scholastic Leadership. Along with her academic pursuits, she remained actively involved in co-curriculars including contributing to the campus newspaper and literary magazine as a Staff Writer, volunteering as an ESL Tutor to refine the writing skills of international students, and working as a Professor Assistant for the Art Department.
She graduated in 2008 earning two B.A. degrees in four years majoring in Art History, English with a Literature concentration, and advanced studies in Studio Art. She also achieved a cross-cultural education in Urban Studies at Temple University in Philadelphia where she participated in the Mural Arts Program.
In 2011, Rachel had artwork published in Northern Arizona University’s Thin Air Magazine, including a piece which was chosen for the cover. Rachel also worked as a Professor Assistant at Penn State University in 2013, critiquing research papers and assessing grade points to undergraduates.
Rachel has now been working with Clemson University since 2016, beginning her career on Main Campus before her promotion to the Cooperative Extension Service. She is a current member of the South Carolina Association of Extension Administrative Professionals (SCAEAP). She has additionally served as an elected officer on the board for the association.
