Profile
Vasanthkumar SS is a Ph.D. scholar in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at Clemson University. His research focuses on vegetative propagation, grafting optimization, plant growth regulators, and sustainable vegetable production systems.
His doctoral research emphasizes watermelon grafting optimization, including rootstock–scion compatibility, grafting success rate, healing chamber management, and post-graft physiological performance. He investigates how grafting influences plant vigor, stress tolerance, nutrient uptake, and yield performance in watermelon production systems.
In addition, his research explores the role of organic amendments in vegetable crops, evaluating composts, bio-based soil amendments, and integrated nutrient management strategies to enhance soil health, improve nutrient availability, and increase crop productivity under sustainable and conservation-oriented systems.
His work integrates plant physiology, biochemical analysis, and advanced statistical modeling to improve propagation efficiency and vegetable crop resilience under changing climatic conditions.
