Profile
I’m Dr. Daphne Wiles, Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Teaching and Learning. I primarily teach in the Online M.Ed. and Teacher Residency programs, where I work closely with both current and future K-12 educators.
My current research focuses on teacher motivation for online teaching and how schools can support best teaching practices in an online environment. Additional research interests include goal theory and the role of neuroscience in K–12 education. I’m passionate about helping teachers to create meaningful, engaging learning environments—both in person and online.
During my doctoral studies at Purdue University, I worked with the Institute for P-12 Engineering Research and Learning (INSPIRE), where I partnered with K–12 teachers to integrate engineering design into their curriculum. That experience deepened my commitment to hands-on, authentic learning that connects theory to practice.
As an educator, I strive to foster a motivating classroom environment where students feel empowered, engaged, and a sense of belonging. I strive to nurture a growth mindset in my students and I aim to create a warm, supportive, and engaging learning environment that honors each student’s unique journey and prepares them for success both inside and outside the classroom.
