Profile
Dr. Spearman is interested in social studies education, the historical foundations of education, sustainability education and the creative arts.
She currently serves as Coordinator of Elementary Education. Dr. Spearman is a Past-President of the Organization of Educational Historians and is counselor for the local Mu Upsilon chapter of the Education Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi.

* American Educational History, especially the history of in-service education, including teachers' institutes, reading circles and state educational periodicals.
* Understanding artifacts and objects in elementary classrooms, archaeology education, the intersections of art and social studies
* Teaching about social issues--especially environmental issues and sustainability
* Historical research methods, including archival research, educational biography, oral history and public history.
